Fair Pay & Living Wage

At MALNI, we believe beauty should never come at the cost of someone’s dignity. A bag can carry a story — and that story should include the people whose hands and craft bring it to life.

The definition we hold ourselves to

We align with the principle of a living wage as defined by the Global Living Wage Coalition — a wage that allows a worker and their family to afford a decent standard of living, including food, housing, healthcare, education, transport, and a little to put aside. Where a formal benchmark does not yet exist for a region we work in, we apply these same principles.

What we do today

The artisans who hand-paint and hand-embroider our pieces are the soul of MALNI — and they are paid fairly and directly for their skill and their time. Their craft is not a cost to be minimised; it is the value we are proud to pay for.

We work with a small, deliberately chosen group of suppliers, and we produce within regulated-labour markets where established labour laws apply. We choose partners we can build real relationships with, because we believe knowing the people behind your product is the foundation of doing right by them.

Where we are on the journey

We are an emerging brand, and we are honest about that. We do not yet have full, independently verified living-wage data across every tier of our supply chain — from raw material to hardware — and we won’t claim otherwise. What we can promise is a genuine commitment: to keep paying our artisans fairly, to deepen transparency across our chain as we grow, and to expand living-wage practices at every stage we can reach.

Conscious luxury, to us, means the whole story is one we’re proud of — including how the people who make it are treated.
